📙 The Divine Comedy - Hell; Canto 13
The Divine Comedy of Dante Alighieri - Volume One "Hell" - Canto 13. Translated into Poetry and Prose by M. Iirenikasu.
The Divine Comedy; Hell - The weary travelers Dante and Virgil enter a dense, dark forest within the seventh circle of hell. The trees, once humans, are now gnarled and drip poison instead of bearing fruit. They are tormented by the Harpies, creatures with human faces and bird bodies, who feed on their leaves, causing the trees to cry out in pain. When Dante breaks a branch, the tree reveals its past life, speaking of betrayal, trust, and the reason for its tragic end. As the travelers, Dante and Virgil, listen, two spirits run by, chased by black hounds. The hounds capture one, tearing him apart. Another lamenting tree shares its tale and tells them of its fate.
